SCR Reform Bill: Promoting Equity Through Legislative Changes

This eLearning program introduces learners to the upcoming changes brought by the Statewide Central Register (SCR) Reform Bill and how these changes impact child welfare work in New York State, bringing more fairness and equity to the system. During this eLearning training, learners are trained about how this law increases the standard of evidence required to indicate a report of child abuse or neglect and makes other changes to minimize undue hardships for low-income families.

 

Who Should Attend?

Direct service staff, supervisors and managers working in Child Protection, Prevention or Foster Care services.

 

Course Benefits

Learners will:

  • Recognize why the law is being changed.
  • Be able to define the new standard of evidence required to indicate a report.
  • Be able to describe how this new law effects employment and foster care licensing for those individuals with indicated cases.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

 

Course Components

Once enrolled in the course, learners will complete a 20-minute eLearning course. Completion of all components is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion.
